Steve Meyer Living Glass Art

Sherwood Forest
2013
Glass on marble base.
Glass sculpture is 15" high, 22" wide and 12" deep. Marble base is 24" wide, 15" deep and 1" high.

Each piece of glass in this sculpture was created by fusing the glass in a kiln, then a second time in the kiln for "slumping" or shaping the glass in or over ceramic molds made specifically for each piece of glass. One day while playing golf, I made a brief side trip into the woods. There I came across a stump covered with very brightly colored shlf fungi. One cell phone picture later and SHERWOOD FOREST had met its beginnings. I never know where the inspiration comes from, but ti always seems to show up when I need it.
